Day two:

It was an early start for some, but there was lots to do before breakfast! Showers, beds stripped and bags packed! After lots of reminders to make sure nothing was left behind in their rooms, guess who left these behind in their room? Clue: it wasn’t any of the children!!!

After breakfast we set off for a bit of problem solving and teamwork.

Then it it was time for the low ropes.

I think it is safe to say, we are all going to sleep well tonight!

I just want to say, on behalf of all the staff, a great big thank you to all of the children! They were all amazing and got stuck in to all of the activities.  Also, a thank you to Mr Large for organising such a wonderful experience. It was such a shame you couldn’t be with us but we hope the pictures give you a taste of the fantastic time we had!

Just to finish, here is a little musical ditty that captures the fun we had.

The Hobbits have returned…

What an exciting two days we have all had! I can’t quite believe how much we fitted in such a short space of time. Take a look at the pictures below to see for yourself.

Day one:

At the very start of our journey, getting ready to head off on our adventure. I am not sure who looks the most excited, the adults or the children?

Once we arrived, our first challenge was to navigate the Hobbit hole to receive our instructions for our first adventure.

Then we were off! We headed out of Braeside on our trail around Devizes Town.

It’s fair to say, we were all feeling very hungry and ready for our lunch. No sooner had we finished our picnic, we were on off our next adventure.  After what seemed like a very long walk (25 minutes) alongside the Avon and Kennet canal, we arrived at our next destination and were swiftly kitted out in our safety gear ready for canoeing.

They quickly mastered the technique and were soon paddling their way across the water.

Next, a few quick challenges on board their canoes.

Another quick break before a bit of pond dipping.

Followed by the long walk back to Braeside to answer the question on everyone’s lips ‘Who am I sharing a room with?’

After another drink and biscuit break, they were finally in their rooms! Needless to say, they were all very excited! Once beds were chosen and bags were unpacked it was time for dinner followed by the torch light orienteering – phew! Is it bedtime yet?!

The children had a wonderful time canoeing and pond dipping. They even played a game where they had to flee from the instructors. Didn’t go well for Daniel Potter, Om or Milo though, as they capsized and ended up in the river!IMG_6027
